We have the pleasure of hosting the Builth Wells Ladies Choir this year following the concert of the Male Choir last year. With the acoustics of St. James' they should sound wonderful.

We have been happy to accept the offer of a set of short talks on different aspects of life in the Ukraine by Lt. Col. Marcus Evans, Olya Fedoruk and Ivan Matsiuk. Around this we hope to put together a broader Ukrainian-themed event including music and food… and maybe a little vodka!
Launch of a new book - "Hereford Castle - The Hidden History of a Defended City" by Kate Andrew, commissioned by Bill Jackson. This event will include an illustrated talk by Kate with an opportunity to purchase the book and all proceeds going to charity.
Annie is a best-selling novelist who lives in Shropshire and will talk around her latest novel, The King's Mother, due out in paperback in July 2025.
Annie will be available to sign copies of her books, on sale after the talk.
Fleur de Lys are a three-piece ensemble of local musicians who perform medieval songs and music with pipes, medieval fiddle, hurdy gurdy, harp and all sorts of other authentic instruments. In the medieval nave of St. James' they should sound great.
After the success of this year's H.Art exhibition we would like to make this a regular feature in our calendar so hope to have another exhibition this year.
The exhibition featured work by four local artists: Emily Gaunt, Kate Green, Beki Penny and Keira Thompson.
The choir sounded awesome in our medieval church and sang a splendid set. Their songs were interspersed with two sets from dulcimer soloist Duncan Gibbs playing songs ranging from traditional folk to blues.
International best-selling author Anne O'Brien spoke about her process of bringing historical women to life as the central characters of her books with particular reference to her latest novel "A Court of Betrayal"
"Looking at St. James and Other Local Churches" is an illustrated talk by Tim Bridges, Conservation Adviser to the Victorian Society.

An Evening with Ludlow Concert Band
Join us for a night of delightful music with the Ludlow Concert Band! This event will take place on Sat 4th May 2024 at 19:15 at the beautiful 1000-year old Church of St. James in Wigmore, Herefordshire.
The Ludlow Concert Band is a group of talented musicians who have been entertaining audiences for years. They play a variety of genres, from stirring marches, through classical favourites and old-time swing numbers to pop anthems. Their performances are always a treat for the ears, and this event promises to be no different.

The official unveiling of our new interpretation display in the South Aisle, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and opened by Edward Harley, Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire.
The Bromyard District of the Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers brought a party of a dozen or so ringers to Wigmore.
Our Friends sponsored Harvest event: A display of produce and flowers donated donated by residents, harvest 'thanksgiving' led by Mark Simmons, poetry read by Joy Ardy, and the organ played by Igor Kennaway. Followed by a harvest 'tea'. A quarter peal of Bells was rung beforehand.
The Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers visited Wigmore again on 15th July to ring a quarter peal of the bells in Wigmore church.
THE CLUN RINGERS AND FRIENDS ARE VISITING ON 8TH JULY AND WILL BE RINGING THE BELLS AT WIGMORE BETWEEN 4PM AND 5PM.
The Clun Ringers will be joined by a few ringers from Ludlow, Presteigne and Knighton who regularly join them for practice, so the methods in the repertoire will range from basic rounds to more advanced Surprise Minor methods.
Their tower captain is very strict about ensuring a high standard of ringing so we can look forward to something a bit special.

Visit by the Leominster District group from the Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers to ring the bells at St. James'.
On 23rd March 2024 our community interpretation display, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund was officially opened by Edward Harley, Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire.
Plans are underway to commission a nature board describing the flora and fauna that makes its home in and around the church and churchyard. This is being made possible by a grant from the Harley Charity.
The Parochial Church Council is made up of clergy and lay members of the church. Together they are responsible for the overall wellbeing, practical as well as spiritual, of their church, the church members, and the church buildings.
The local village shop has kindly offered to sell greetings cards we have had produced to go towards our fund raising.
The pre-eminent history society for the Mortimers and the history of the Welsh Marches. We are already in discussion with them for contribution to the content of information displays in the church.
